This weekend we ran in the Camp Pendelton mud run. It is only a 10k so I figured it would be pretty easy...wrong! During the first mile they soaked everyone with fire hoses. As if running with an additional five pounds on each foot wasn't bad enough, the next mile and a half was in the sand. Suicide hill was the next two miles...and no it isn't just a clever name. The last two miles the mud came in to play, hence the name of the race. Everything from climbing muddy walls to running through little tunnels to climbing on all fours up a steep hill of slimy mud. I was looking forward to the quarter mile swim in the lake towards the end, but as most of you know California is kind of in a drought. There wasn't any water so we had to run through the dry lake bed that smelled about the same as a field of cow crap. Right before the finish line we had to swim through the mud under some wires, and yes I did receive a mouth full of this tasty water/dirt combo while doing so...yum! In all it was a blast and our team did very well considering we started training the week of the race. We finished somewhere in the 90th's place out of 400 teams and we even beat some of the marine teams, it was great!
Here is the team feeling pretty good before the race, please don't ask me why Tim is flexing like that or what the guy behind us is doing...

Running to the finish line...
